CAP & PDs History, Mission, and Vision
The Chattanooga Aquatic Project and Personal Development (CAP & PD) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit
registered with the Tennessee Secretary of State.
Because our organization is non-profit, we operate utilizing a network of volunteers, charitable giving, and grants.
Our VISION is to create a global universe that is a natural, healthy connection between man, woman, child, air, water, and land.
Our MISSION is to grow future stewards of the environment while instilling an appreciation for environmental protection awareness, innovative learning, service learning, and civic responsibility in their daily lives.
Additionally, CAP & PD endeavors to increase student engagement and teacher effectiveness in the public-school system’s classrooms as it relates to marine biology.
Swimming and scuba diving classes connect our youth between the ages of 8 and 18 to the greater outdoors.
The scenic city of Chattanooga is surrounded by beautiful lakes, rivers and camping parks
making it the ideal location for outdoor activities.
By utilizing local resources such as community swimming pools, youth are learning important water safety techniques.
Additionally, CAP & PD is teaming up with our family of aquatic organizations to increase participants’ awareness of scuba diving
techniques and other water sports while also learning to protect the environments where they live.
Because African-American children are five times more likely to drown in swimming pools compared to White children, the Chattanooga Aquatic Project and Personal Development nonprofit seeks partnership opportunities with
local community directors to bring swimming lessons to our community centers.
Those who register to learn to swim at the nearby centers in their neighborhoods
through CAP & PD will receive lessons for free. Sign up HERE.
The Chattanooga Aquatic Project and Personal Development nonprofit endeavors to provide the child with purpose by observing marine life. The youth and their parents will learn how human activity impacts the habitats of marine life and vice versa.
CAP & PD is connecting youth with the aquatics through consistency, collaboration, and compassion by
transforming lives and changing mindsets for future generations and marine life.
Giving every child a purpose is one small step to saving lives.
